‘The Pie’ is a 2014, 16’1 hand, chestnut Thoroughbred gelding. He still has a lot of growing to as he is just turning four. He is being retired from racing clean legged and vice free. He is up-to-date on everything and he is ready to start his new life in the show ring. ‘The Pie’ is sassy in his stall at feed time — but is great to brush and quiet to ride. He is a playful horse who loves attention. He is just a baby who you can mold into the horse of your dreams.
‘The Pie’ is extremely well bred (NY) and should have been a great racehorse. But, after seven starts, ‘The Pie’ has only won $1801. He is a grandson of the great horse Unbridled. Unbridled won everything and almost 4.5 million dollars. ‘The Pie’s’ pedigree reads like a whos who of Thoroughbred racing. It includes Nijinsky, Northern Dancer, Icecapade, Nearctic, Raise a Native, Dr. Fager and Hail to Reason. He has so much breeding but so little talent. His race owners loss can be your next winner in the show ring.
UPDATE JULY 2018: “The Pie” is NY Bred and eligible for this award at the RRP. His owners are hoping to find a home for him right away so he can compete in this year’s Makeover. His price has been reduced for a quick sale.
The New York Thoroughbred Horsemen’s Association, New York Racing Association, and New York Thoroughbred Breeders Inc. are jointly sponsoring the $5,000 Empire State Success Story Award, which will go to the top-placed New York-bred at the Makeover.
‘The Pie’ is good to ride on the track but obviously not fast enough to win a race. The chain is his mouth was only because his owner, who happens to be older, did not think she could jog him without it. He really did not need it but this is normal at the track. You cannot take the chance that the horse might get loose and hurt himself or others.
This guy is a beautiful mover with a ton of class. ‘The Pie’ should be able to move up to any level you would ask of him. He screams look at me with his fantastic neck and head. If you act fast, ‘The Pie’ could be the next superstar in your barn. He is also RRP eligible.
Please call for pricing. We will not sell a horse to just anyone with the money and we don’t send prices by PM or email. We carefully select the horses we sell and we work hard to make a perfect match. If you don’t call, we cannot help you. We are not a rescue and our horses are not ‘rescue priced’. Most horses are between $2500 and $4500 – some higher and some lower. Call and we can talk more our horses and let us help you find the perfect match. We take the gamble out of getting a Thoroughbred off-the-track. Learn more about how our Track Prospect Horses are priced on the main Bits & Bytes Farm website.
