Your New Best Friend Awaits!

Introducing Hink’s Paladin, a 2019, 16’1 hh, very dark bay (nope, not black, but he *wants* to be!) Thoroughbred gelding who’s ready to trade the racetrack for trail adventures. Priced to steal your heart (and wallet) at a bargain, this Arizona-bred charmer is a total character and guaranteed to make you laugh. His nickname is “Hinky Dinky”.

Why “Hinky Dinky”?

This guy’s got personality for days. His whinny? Think less “noble steed” and more “confused cow.” It’s a bellow that’ll have you grinning every time he greets you. Hink’s won four races—way more than we ever expected—and he’s given his all against those fancy Kentucky horses. Now, he’s ready to retire from racing and become your ultimate trail-riding buddy.

Fun Fact: Hinky Dinky’s favorite snacks include black licorice, potato chips, and *any* fruit or veggie. But cinnamon hearts? Hard pass!

The Details

  • Travel Pro: Loads and unloads like a gentleman. You won’t even know he’s in the trailer—he’s *that* chill.
  • Easy Keeper: Good with the vet, farrier, grooming, and baths (though he might try to nibble the shank—sneaky boy!).
  • Health: Up-to-date on all shots (July 1st: EEE, WWW, Flu, Rhino, Potomac, Tetanus, Rabies, West Nile). Teeth done May 15th. No strangles vaccine, no vices, no surgeries, just a tiny splint on his left front.
  • Quirks: Please know Hink’s  is absolutely stunning but his legs are, well, *artistically crooked* from the ankles down. He toes out and clips his sesamoids, so no high-level jumping for this guy. We train him in very thick polos and make patches for him to race in. The person that buys him needs to realize how incorrect he is. But flatwork and trails? He’s your man! Check the video to see his unique style.

UPDATE MARCH 19, 2026

Hink’s Paladin has been SOLD to Kayleigh Kendrick. We are excited to announce that he will be boarding at Bits & Bytes Farm.

His Vibe

Hinky Dinky *loves* people, attention, and training. He’ll nicker non-stop to be the first out of the barn, ready to roll. He loves, and I mean loves to train. He’s light in the mouth, eager to learn, and will follow you anywhere—probably to investigate something scary just for fun. He will need an understanding rider as he adjusts to off track life. This horse has no fear and is all heart. He’s never bucked or reared, just vibes with pure enthusiasm. He just loves to be around people and thrives on attention.

Pro Tip: Keep some treats handy—Hink’s a snack enthusiast and will love you forever for a carrot or a chip.

Who’s His Perfect Match?

Hink needs an understanding rider to help him transition from track life to trail life. He’s a quick learner, willing, and thrives on attention. He’s never been turned out with others (he was always prepping for his next race), but he’s so easygoing, we think he’ll adjust like a champ. Owned by his breeder and trained by one trainer his whole career, this guy’s ready for a new chapter.

Ready to Meet Your Flat/Trail Partner?

Hink’s Paladin is a steal for anyone looking for a fun, flashy, and lovable partner. He’s not perfect (those legs!), but his heart and personality are 10/10. Ready to give him the retirement he deserves? There is a video included so you understand he will not hold up for competitive jumping at high levels. We would like to find the perfect fit for him. He could definitely do flat work and lots of trail riding.

Frequently Asked Questions About Buying Our Thoroughbreds

Prices are not always published because the price can go up or down depending on how the horse is racing. Most horses average $3,500 but can be as low as $1,000 or more than $5,000 if they are at the farm or have off-the-track training. We will share the prices when you call. If the horse you call about is not in your budget, we may be able to recommend another horse that is.

Jockey Club name is usually listed on the sale page. Do not call the trainer or seller of the horse directly. The sellers do not want calls from people who have not been screened by us for having the skills to help these horses into new careers. Most horses come with their Jockey Club papers. The links to their race records and pedigrees are listed on their sale page. Horses’ whose names are in quotes are their nickname and not the actual name of the horse.

When we say this is a Prospect Horse, that means the horse is not at our farm in the Atlanta area. Prospect horses are still at the track or owner or trainer’s farm. We can tell you where the horse is when you call. Thoroughbreds move from track to track and to the farm and back. We cannot keep this web site current with so many horses listed and all moving around. That is why we don’t post the location. We are happy to share where the horse is when you call. We may have to make a phone call to find out where the horse is ourselves, but we are happy to share the info with you…if you call. We sometimes do list a horse that is in training at our farm. The price will usually be much higher than a prospect horse as we have already put training on the horse. The longer the horse is in training at our farm, the higher the price. Don’t wait to call about the horses at our farm if you want the best price.

READ these pages and then CALL . . . Between 9 AM-9 PM East Coast time.  Before you call, you can save us all a lot of time by reading the information on these pages on our Bits & Bytes Farm Web site.

Please read our Pricing Information and Buying a Track Prospect Horse pages BEFORE calling! There are several more pages under the Buying Our Horses button. Prospect Horses at the Track will only be sold to buyers with the skills and support to make it a successful transition. Prospect Horses are NOT at our farm. They are at the track or their owners’ farms. We do not sell horses for racing.

CALL if you are excited about one of the horses, but PLEASE READ the links above. We will not sell a horse if it is not a good match – no matter how much money you have. Are you a match? CALL and we can see.

Our Phone: 770-704-6595 between 9AM and 9PM East Coast time! We are located in the Atlanta, GA area in Canton, GA.

If you see a horse you like:

Don’t wait to see if he is there tomorrow.
Don’t wonder how much he is – CALL!
Don’t wait to see what your friends say – CALL!

We are not going to talk you into buying a horse! More likely we will ask you to tell us about yourself and your goals. Then, we will help you find the right match or tell you to wait for other horses because none of the current horses are a match.

Prices change based on what price the owner has set. We add a small markup for our services. Prices can go up or down based on how the horse is racing or how quickly the owner wants the horse sold. Most Prospect horses are priced under $5000 with the average being around $3500. Big sound geldings, grey horses and tall horses usually cost more — but not always. Small mares are your best bet if you are price sensitive.

Please read our Pricing Information and Buying a Track Prospect Horse pages before calling. There are several more pages under theBuying Our Horses button at the top of this page. Prospect Horses at the Track will only be sold to buyers with the skills and support to make it a successful transition.

We DO NOT SELL HORSES FOR RACING!

We can’t help you if you don’t call. Adults only please. Minors should have a parent or trainer call for them.
