Jilliana – Sweet & Kind – Owner SOLD.
Jilliana is a 2017, 16’1 hand Thoroughbred mare for sale from her breeder/owner. She is young and still growing. ‘Jilli’ was raised by her breeder/owner and started correctly. She was brought along slowly because her whole family matured late as racehorses. She has been handled since hitting the ground and always received love and great care. She is very levelheaded and kind. Her first rider was the young girl in the pictures.
UPDATE AUGUST 2021: The owner of this horse could not wait for us to find the perfect match so she sent the horse out on trial. If you see a horse you like, don’t wait to call. We had a buyer on this horse and the deposit came in a few hours after the horse left.
She is sound and vice-free. ‘Jilli’ has never had any soundness issues or surgery — we know her entire history. She has had just one owner and that really makes a difference. Yes, this is a chestnut mare but without the attitude of many chestnut mares. She loads with just one person in a step-up slant trailer. There is no running backward. No crazy stuff. She loads and stands waiting. Like most females, she loves her spa baths and having a good brushing. She ties quietly and you can curry away on her with no kicking or biting.
‘Jilli’ is uncomplicated to ride. Her bit on the track is just an eggbutt snaffle with no noseband. She likes quiet hands that are soft. She does not want her face jerked on or heavy hands. Not many Thoroughbreds do. She stands quietly at the mounting block and she has impeccable manners with the vet and blacksmith. She loves getting chiropractic regularly. Her trainer does regular chiropractic sessions on all her horses to keep them feeling good.
Jilliana is extremely well-bred. Her grandsires are Dynaformer and Mineshaft. Her pedigree includes two Triple Crown winners Seattle Slew and Secretariat. Also in her pedigree are Roberto, Unbridled Song, A.P. Indy, Hail to Reason, Unbridled, Eddington, Nashua, Fappiano, Caro, Broad Brush, and Nashua. A true ‘who’s who’ in the Thoroughbred world.
‘Jilli’ will rock the hunter world for sure but she could go in any direction with the right training. The best thing about her besides her great attitude is her feet. She can go barefoot or with shoes. She has incredible feet. These pics do not do her justice. The sun was not out so you cannot see how pretty and eye-catching she actually is. She has a ton more growing and filling out to do. She loves carrots, peppermints, and whole apples. She enjoys having her legs stretched before riding. She is just such a cool girl and has so much ability.
Impress your friends with this lovely chestnut mare. They will be amazed and in awe of how quietly she goes for you. Call if you are looking for a blank slate to train. Jilliana is young, has great feet, and she raced just six times. Jilliana is just waiting for the right person to love and have fun with.
Please call for pricing. The price can go up or down depending on the owner. We always check with the owner when someone is a serious buyer. Many times the price goes down to a really good home. We do not own these horses so we cannot control the pricing. We will not sell a horse to just anyone with the money. We carefully select the horses we sell and we work hard to make a perfect match. If you don’t call, we cannot help you. We are not a rescue and our horses are not ‘rescue priced’. Most horses are between $2500 and $4500 – some higher and some lower. Call and we can talk more about our horses and let us help you find the perfect match. We take the gamble out of getting a Thoroughbred off-the-track. Learn more about how our Track Prospect Horses are priced on the main Bits & Bytes Farm website.
I look forward to speaking with you. Please call 770-704-6595 between 9am and 9pm. East Coast Time – Elizabeth Wood
Frequently Asked Questions About Buying Our Thoroughbreds
What is the price of this horse?
Prices are not published because the price can go up or down depending on how the horse is racing. Most horses average $3500 but can be as low as $1000 or up to $5000. We will share the prices when you call. If the horse you call about is not in your budget, we may be able to recommend another horse that is.
What is the Jockey Club name of this horse?
Jockey Club names are not usually listed on the site as the sellers do not want calls from people who have not been screened by us for having the skills to help these horses into new careers. Most horses come with their Jockey Club papers and we will be happy to provide links to their race records and pedigrees when you make the decision to move forward with a purchase. Horses’ whose names are in quotes are not the actual name of the horse. That is the nickname we have listed the horse by.
Where is this horse located?
When we say this is a Prospect Horse, that means the horse is not at our farm in the Atlanta area. Prospect horses are still at the track or owner or trainer’s farm. We can tell you where the horse is when you call. Thoroughbreds move from track to track and to the farm and back. We cannot keep this web site current with so many horses listed and all moving around. That is why we don’t post the location. We are happy to share where the horse is when you call. We may have to make a phone call to find out where the horse is ourselves, but we are happy to share the info with you…if you call.
