Hong Kong Gardens is a 2015, 16 hand Thoroughbred gelding who is looking for his new career after retiring clean-legged and sound from racing. This horse is super fun to be around. He has a ton of curiosity and personality. Hong Kong e is great to ride on the track. He has no vices and he is up to date on everything.
UPDATE February 2021: Congratulations Catalina Titcomb of Canton, GA on the purchase of Hong Kong Gardens. Cat and her new BAYby will be boarding at Bits & Byters Farm. Give us a call and come meet them and see many of the horses we have gotten off-the-track.
UPDATE December 2019: Hong Kong Gardens took a well deserved rest after his racing career was over. He is now being used as a pony horse at the track! In two days, he learned to neckrein, side pass, and turn on the haunches while wearing a Western saddle. He leads horses to the gate and stands quietly when they break open! This horse has a BRAIN! He is so good at his new job that he is not currently available. We will keep checking with his owners but I doubt he will become available again.
This boy gets on a step-up trailer or a ramp trailer with no issues and ships quietly. His trainer really pampers her horses and they all get regular visits to the chiropractor and acupuncturist. The only regular visits Hong Kong has missed…is to the winner’s circle.
Hong Kong is ready to transition to his new show career. He is believed sound for any sport horse career and we know he is sane. Don’t miss out on this one because he will be at the top of the show ring in any discipline. He absolutely floats across the ground at a trot. He is a super cool horse and has been turned out occasionally with mares and other geldings with no issues. This is one very nice big boned gelding.
Oh, and one more thing. Hong Kong Gardens sold at the Keeneland yearling sales in 2016 for $105,000! He is sale priced at just a fraction of his yearling sale price three years ago. Thoroughbred don’t sell for six figures at the Keeneland sale if there is anything wrong with them. He is not selling for anywhere near that price because in 18 races, he won only one! This year, he has been running monthly since March and he is consistent in his ability finish at the bottom of the field to beat just one or two horse in each race. His last race was on July 11, 2019 and he finished last.
Hong Kong Gardens is a nice sweet horse with no talent for racing. He has an impressive pedigree and a disappointing race record. He would make a great sport horse for someone who wants a buddy as well as a fancy show horse. He just needs someone to love him and give him a chance at a different career. He is a super nice mover with an in-your-pocket personality Is he your perfect match? Give us a call and we can see. SOLD!
Please call for pricing. The price can go up or down depending on the owner. We always check with the owner when someone is a serious buyer. Many times the price goes down to a really good home. We do not own these horses so we cannot control the pricing. We will not sell a horse to just anyone with the money. We carefully select the horses we sell and we work hard to make a perfect match. If you don’t call, we cannot help you. We are not a rescue and our horses are not ‘rescue priced’. Most horses are between $2500 and $4500 – some higher and some lower. Call and we can talk more about our horses and let us help you find the perfect match. We take the gamble out of getting a Thoroughbred off-the-track. Learn more about how our Track Prospect Horses are priced on the main Bits & Bytes Farm website.
I look forward to speaking with you. Please call 770-704-6595 between 9am and 9pm. East Coast Time – Elizabeth Wood
What is the price of this horse?
Prices are not published because the price can go up or down depending on how the horse is racing. Most horses average $3500 but can be as low as $1000 or up to $5000. We will share the prices when you call. If the horse you call about is not in your budget, we may be able to recommend another horse that is.
What is the Jockey Club name of this horse?
Jockey Club names are not usually listed on the site as the sellers do not want calls from people who have not been screened by us for having the skills to help these horses into new careers. Most horses come with their Jockey Club papers and we will be happy to provide links to their race records and pedigrees when you make the decision to move forward with a purchase. Horses’ whose names are in quotes are not the actual name of the horse. That is the nickname we have listed the horse by.
Where is this horse located?
When we say this is a Prospect Horse, that means the horse is not at our farm in the Atlanta area. Prospect horses are still at the track or owner or trainer’s farm. We can tell you where the horse is when you call. Thoroughbreds move from track to track and to the farm and back. We cannot keep this web site current with so many horses listed and all moving around. That is why we don’t post the location. We are happy to share where the horse is when you call. We may have to make a phone call to find out where the horse is ourselves, but we are happy to share the info with you…if you call.
